Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Your child is currently participating in the Accelerated Reader program (AR). This program has your child reading at his or her independent reading level to build fluency and comprehension. Your child is ready to take quizzes on the books that they have read in the classroom or checked out from the library at their AR level. These quizzes check how well they understand what they read, earning them points as they pass each comprehension quiz. Points will be accumulated for the school year.
The first graders must earn 50 points during the school year to attend the reward party for the elementary! You can keep track of your child’s progress from home using Renaissance Home Connect. You can find the link on my websites page. A link to Home Connect is also located on the school’s web page (www.chstrojans.org). Simply click on the “Elementary” tab, and Home Connect is located under the “Important Links” tab. Your child’s username and password will be sent home in their folder.
Students may test on almost any book from school, the public library, or home. The website has a book finder to see if the story has an AR quiz. Almost every book does! Books are also marked with a reading level. Your child’s individual reading level will be indicated with their username and password.
How does this fit in with our “100 Book Club?”
Easy! When you record your child’s book on the form, just include the quiz number provided on the cover of the book. When your child completes their 100 books, they will be given a separate AR recording sheet to keep track of quizzes that need to be taken.
Thank you for supporting our Accelerated Reader Program!
